Alicante Cat Tree

The Alicante cat tree is a 4-tiered beauty available in dark grey or beige.
Design: The tree consists of a square base, 3 raised shelves, a cubbyhole den, and a wonderful 6 scratching posts. The base is large enough to provide excellent security despite the quite significant height of the tree (44.4cm square base, 141.6cm high). Cats will love having a variety of scratching posts to use, and the different heights will allow them to scratch at full stretch if they so wish – something that is rarely possible with basic scratching posts. The cubbyhole is large enough for most cats to curl up in though may be snug for larger breeds. Because there is a large corner hole, cats can enjoy stretching their legs inside the cubbyhole, and letting them dangle out.
Manufacture & Assembly: This cat tree is made by Trixie, a German company who make all sorts of pet-related products. It does require assembly, but this is quite simple and intuitive, although the assembly instructions are basic! It will take about 20minutes to put together, but your cat may help by using the scratching posts before you even put it up!

•    Although the design is overall quite sturdy, if it is seated on carpet (particularly thick carpet), the top levels become rather wobbly during active play, although it has never actually toppled over.

Amarkat Cat Trees

Where choice of style, colour, size and design are concerned, you can’t beat the Amarkat cat tree selection. The variety of designs needs to be seen to be believed! If you want a cat tree of a particular height or width to fit somewhere, then you can chose the height that fits, and in some sizes you have a choice of design.

For kittens, there is this tiny cat tree or cat condo – but it’s really very small and only suitable up to about 6 months, so you’ll soon need to buy a bigger one!

If you only have one cat, or limited space the 52-inch and 53-inch versions are adequate. But for a little more height, the 57-inch (2 designs available) and 58-inch versions add more interest for your cat.

If you have a multi-cat household and/or space allows, by far the most exciting designs are those over 75 inches. For those who can’t stretch to that height, there are also cat trees in this range between 70-75 inches in height, and 60-70 inches in height.

The tall versions of the Amarkat cat tree are perfect for boisterous, inquisitive cats who are keen climbers. This means they’re a good cat tree for exotic cats who would otherwise climb curtains, wardrobes, legs (!) and those cats who like to be up high. If you have a dog or children, a tall cat tree is a great way of providing a ‘safe’ and private space for you cat without having to allocate a whole room to your cat as an escape hole.

That even the tallest Amarkat cat trees are known to be sturdy and secure is quite an achievement, although those designs that have perches at the very top can expect a degree of wobble – not that the cats seem to mind this! The other good thing about the Amarkat designs is that they offer a combination of hiding condos for shy cats, and perches for more confident cat.

Amarkat also do a rather stylish 61 inch cat tree with wooden shelves, although it’s only really suitable for one or two cats.
